Lower Campus ASP

Our youngest students try everything from Science Experiments to Yoga in ASP

Students in Preschool and Kindergarten who stay until 4:00 pm enjoy a “tasting menu” of special classes like yoga, science, and gross-motor adventure. An extracurricular class is taught daily by an outside provider. Preschool students have a class 2x per week and Kindergarten students 4x per week. The classes rotate throughout the school year so that your child has the opportunity to try each one. Students not participating in a class play outside on the playground – rain, snow, or shine!

Students enrolled through 4:00 pm may also sign up for a daily 5:00 or 6:00 pm departure. This after-care period is a non-academic time for fun free-play, and social-skill building.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When is the After School Program (ASP)?

ASP at Lower Campus runs daily from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Pick up times are either 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00 pm.

Can pickup times be flexible?

The 2:00 or 4:00 pm pickup time must be selected upon enrollment and is a year-long commitment. However, having a flexible schedule with different pickup times after 4:00 pm is an option. Drop-in hours are also available with advanced notice.

Does ASP have a routine like the morning classes do?

Yes. While there is a lot of flexibility and free play in ASP, structure and routine are still an essential part of our afternoons.

What does the transition from morning to afternoon look like?

The ASP teachers welcome the preschool and kindergarten students to their assigned after school classroom at 2:00 pm. The students say goodbye to their morning teachers and transition into their afternoon setting. If a child is still napping when ASP starts, they have the option to sleep until 2:30 pm each day.

How many students are in ASP?

ASP has two classrooms with 20-25 children in each group. There are 5 teachers in total, with 2 teachers in each classroom and 1 teacher jumping between classrooms for extra support.

Are the preschool and kindergarten students in separate groups?

Only during the extra curricular classes taught by an outside provider. Otherwise, children ages 3-6 years are together during the afternoons. This is a great time for students to learn from each other and work on their social- and problem solving skills!

If there are different teachers in the afternoon, how will I find out what happened during the day when I pick my child up?

There is a parent liaison who checks in with each morning teacher, asking about each individual child. They can answer any questions you may have about your child’s day.
