Yvonne holds an MA in Education & Sociology from Heidelberg University. She was a Teacher and Coordinator of the English program at the German Embassy School in Beijing, and was Director of Project Development at a New Hampshire language school. She now teaches German as a Second Language in the Fast Track program at GISB.
Eric holds an MA from the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. He is fluent in German, English, and Arabic. When he isn't teaching, he is probably swimming, songwriting, or designing games. He teaches in the After School Program at GISB.
Becca has a career background in university admission and and has chosen to move to the high school side as she is more interested in the students' Journey. She speaks English, Spanish, and ASL, and was born and raised in Boston where her family owns a local bakery. You'll often find her there when not at school.
Sabrina joined GISB in 2010 and has taught English in private and public middle and high schools for over 25 years. Born in the U.S. to Austrian parents, GISB is a natural fit and a welcome bridge between her family's cultural history and her present teaching career. She is a teacher representative and the grade 10 teacher.
Charlotte studied History with a minor in German Language at Boston University. She has been part of GISB since 2010 and coordinates the After School Programs (ASP), Ski Week and vacation camps.
Adele is an after school teacher teaching art, science, and dance. She currently studies Elementary Education at Lesley University. Before GISB, Adele was an after school teacher in California, teaching art, science and creative play. When she is not teaching Adele is in school, dancing, or spending time with friends.
Dineen is a passionate art educator teaching students to be creative thinkers and confident artistic individuals. She has a BA from Hunter College in New York City and completed her graduate work at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Prior to GISB, she taught for three years at the American School in Rome, Italy.
Bindy is the MA State Ambassador for the 75-member-country International Board on Books for Young People and Chair of the annual Outstanding International Books List committee. She has done Children's Lit projects with Harvard, Tufts, BPL and more. She loves to connect children's books with Museum Education.
Anette is an ASP teacher from Vienna, Austria. She holds a BA in Business, Economics and Social Sciences and a MA in Organizational & Human Resources Development. With this background she brings more than six years of experience in working with people. Anette loves to explore new places, cultures and do all kinds of sports.
Uta holds a Master's in History from the Goethe University of Frankfurt and qualified as Therapeutic & Special Needs Teacher in Frankfurt and at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She has taught in Germany and the US. Uta joined GISB in 2002 and teaches Music in the Elementary School and History in the Upper School.
Mr. Gerson has both degrees in international business and a Masters degree in secondary education and Spanish. He has taught Spanish for over 10 years and has been at GISB since 2014. He speaks English, Spanish, and Hebrew. Mr. Gerson enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking and plays the piano and accordion.
Tara teaches English in Grades 1–6. She received her Reading Specialist certification from MGH's Institute of Health Professions and MAs from Tufts University and Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. She has lived in the US, Ireland, France, Switzerland, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada.
Jason is a teacher at the After School Program. He graduated from Vassar College in 2018 with majors in Sociology and German, and spent last year doing a Fulbright scholarship teaching English in a Realschule in Montabaur in Germany. He loves singing, playing piano, traveling, and reading.
Eva studied German and Spanish for Middle and Upper School and holds an additional qualification for teaching German as a Foreign Language (DaF). She lived in Seville, Spain for one year and has more than 10 years of teaching experience. She loves traveling, movies, theater and outdoor sports.
Julia was born and raised in Germany and studied at the University in Bamberg. She works at the Lower Campus After School Program, teaches DAZ for Vorschule and likes to spend her free time with her family, friends and playing tennis.
Silvia holds a Bachelor’s in Human Performance and Fitness from UMass Boston and a Masters in Education from Boston University. She joined GISB as a PE Teacher and Head of Sport in 2009 and teaches grades 1-6. Silvia is also Coordinator for sport programs outside of GISB.
Claudia is an Elementary Coordinator at GISB. She teaches Math in Grades 1/2 and 3/4. She speaks German and English, and joined the faculty here in 2016. She really likes to ride her bike to get around Boston and shares this joy with students through a bike education project she initiated and oversees.
Ludger has taught in the Middle and Upper School at GISB since 2015. He holds a Masters in History, Sports and Biology from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. He also holds a Masters in World History from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Ludger also coaches volleyball at GISB.
Sati was born and raised in Heidelberg, and has lived in France, Turkey, and now Boston. She is fluent in German, Turkish, English, and French. She earned her BA in Early Childhood Education in Freiburg, and will teach Preschool at GISB. In her free time she loves to dance, play volleyball, travel and read.
Mona was born in Austria, and brings experience teaching preschool children with special needs to her role in the After School Program at GISB. In her free time, she sings in a chorus and takes pottery lessons. She loves nature, so you may find her cycling to all the beautiful ponds and parks around Boston on the weekends.
Lisa was born and raised in Germany and studied Physical Education and English at the University of Koblenz. She moved to New England in May 2018. In her free time she loves to travel, cook and bake, photography and outdoor activities.
Amy gained her Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College, IL and went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa, and Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Lesley University. She previously taught in the Arlington Public Schools and at Lesley Ellis School in Arlington. Amy joined GISB in 2015.
Safiya is an ASP Teacher and was born and raised in Hannover, Germany. She graduated with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from London Metropolitan University before she moved to the Boston area. In her free time she enjoys to read and write, spend time outdoors and travel whenever possible.
Henriette was born in Germany and holds a degree in Elementary Education. She has worked in elementary schools for eight years and spent the last three years teaching at the Deutsche Schule Seoul International in Korea. She loves traveling, exploring new cultures and trying out all kinds of food.
Rahel was born and raised in Switzerland and studied Primary School Education at the University of Education in Zurich. She loves spending her free time outdoors with hiking, running, biking and skiing.
Catharina was born in Germany, and has taught in France, England, Australia and Germany before moving to Boston. She studied at the University of Münster, and teaches English, French and Ethics for grades 5 – 12 at GISB. She loves traveling, rowing, running, and meeting new people.
Jonas joins the ASP team from Berlin, Germany, where he last worked in an elementary school in all-day care. He studied Educational Science in Magdeburg, Hamburg and Savannah. He enjoys sports, reading, music, film, coffee and good conversations.
Waltraud joins the GISB teaching team with over 28 years of experience teaching Preschool. Born in Germany, she has lived in Bahrain, Uganda, Romain, Mali, and New England! She loves to travel, cook, read and spend time at the ocean.
Maria comes from South Tyrol and speaks German, Italian, and English. She holds a degree in Elementary Education and has worked in elementary schools for five years. At GISB she is a classroom teacher in Grade 1/2 and teaches music at the Lower Campus. She loves reading, singing, playing the piano, cycling, and traveling.
Daniel is from Berlin. Before moving to Boston he was Head of the Sports Department at the Jüdische Gymnasium Berlin. He is also a licensed ski and snowboard instructor and had earned a basketball scholarship in Savannah, Georgia. In his free time he enjoys playing with his three boys and their dog.
Anna was born in Germany and lived in the UK for three years. She is fluent in German, English and French and teaches in our English Department. Anna loves to travel, debate politics, read, visit museums, and cook.
Martha was born in Germany and lived in Spain (Ibiza and Madrid) for 5 years, the UK for 8 years (Bath and London) and now lives in the United States. She speaks English, German and Spanish and teaches in the Elementary School. Martha joined GISB in 2013.
Dunja started teaching music at GISB in 2004. She is the founder of “Musikgarten in Boston", an early childhood music program in German and received her bachelor in vocal pedagogy and masters in vocal performance from the Musikhochschule Detmold in Germany. Dunja loves being outdoors with her family and friends.
In 2018/19 Matthias served as Interim Head of School. He previously worked as a Trade Specialist at the US Consulate in Hamburg and taught in Germany. Prior to GISB, he spent a year with his family traveling in North and Central America on sabbatical.
Clotilde has been teaching French at GISB since 2004 and speaks German, Swiss German, French and English. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in French and German and has lived in Switzerland and the United States.
Hannah was born and raised in Massachusetts, and lived in Germany for the past six years. She studied Psychology and Studio Art, and brings five years of teaching experience. When she isn't teaching in our Preschool and Kindergarten, she and enjoys traveling, going to the ocean, bouldering, and running marathons.
Tobias was born in the Netherlands and graduated with a degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Freiburg. He did fundamental research in elementary particle physics at CERN for three and a half years. While working at a Franco-German school in Freiburg, he was a jury member of "Jugend forscht” for physics.
Anke is from Hamburg but has also lived in Berlin, Braunschweig and near Stuttgart. She studied Education for Children in Leipzig as well as German, mathematics, history and politics at the TU in Braunschweig. Anke has a labrador called Lola. In her free time she reads, likes to watch ball sports and play handball.
Lea holds a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She speaks English and Greek, and is pleased to join GISB as School Counselor.
Lauren has lived in the US, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, France and Italy. She was the recipient of a Fulbright Research Grant and has lectured on Early Language Learning and English at the University of Education, Freiburg. Lauren has been at GISB since 2010 and teaches in the Preschool and Kindergarten.
Julia was born in Germany and has lived in England, India, and across the US for the past eighteen years. She is fluent in English and German. When she isn't teaching Preschool at GISB, you might find her running, teaching her dogs new tricks, or enjoying the ocean.
Laura is from Germany. She holds a BA in Museum Education, and a MA in Educational Sciences from Heidelberg University. Laura brings four years of experience designing and teaching workshops at experimenta, a German science center, to GISB's Preschool Program. She likes photography, reading, yoga, and exploring Boston.
Sophie is a classroom teacher in the Middle School, and also teaches Natural Science, Biology, and Chemistry at GISB. She speaks English, German, and French. In her free time, she enjoys running, cycling, skiing, cooking, traveling.
Julia comes from Germany and holds a degree in Elementary Education. She has six years of teaching experience. At GISB, she teaches grade 3/4. In her free time, Julia enjoys reading, baking and exploring the outdoors with her dog.
Alexandra grew up in Konstanz, Germany and has also lived in Switzerland and South Africa. Volunteering in a school in South Africa influenced her to become a teacher. She majored in Elementary School Education and Art at the Zurich University of Teacher Education. Alexandra speaks German, English, and French.
Ms. Shemroske holds a master’s degree in Secondary Education, an Elementary Music Teaching Degree and a Specialty (Waldorf) Teaching Certificate. She has taught grades 1-12 and courses in higher education and conducted a community orchestra. In her free time she enjoys playing her flute and traveling.
Stefanie holds an MEd in German and English, and is a certified teacher of German as a second language/intercultural pedagogy. Before moving to Boston, Stefanie taught in different countries, including Germany, US, Thailand, Tanzania and Canada. In her free time, she enjoys traveling around the world, cooking and dancing.
Born in Maine, Mary teaches English in Vorschule and elementary grades at GISB. Graduating from (BU) Wheelock College, and Harvard School of Education, Mary brings many years of experience in Early Childhood, and Special Education. She loves spending time with family, rock climbing, yoga, hiking, water sports, and travel.
Funda joins the Middle School teaching team as the classroom teacher in 5/6B. She also teaches Math in grades 5 - 9, and German in grade 5/6. She is fluent in German, English, and Turkish.
Barbara was born in Germany, lived in Belgium for five years, and has now been in the Boston area for many years. She brings more than thirteen years of experience to our Preschool teaching team, and is fluent in English and German with some French and Spanish skills. She loves traveling and riding her motorcycle.
Kerstin moved to Boston with her family in 2018. She studied German, French and Physical Education at the University of Heidelberg. After staying at home to raise her children, she taught in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Munich. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, rowing, and any kind of outdoor sports.
Andreas studied at Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and University of Oslo. As a trainee he taught in Tanzania, and at German School Tallinn in Estonia. Special interest areas include German debating and fostering democracy education. He teaches History, Social Studies and German in the Middle & Upper School at GISB.
Susanne teaches German as a Second Language in Grades 1-5 at GISB. She is a Middle and High School Teacher for German and History with experience in teaching German as a Foreign Language at schools in Germany, France, at the University of Freiburg and at the German Saturday School Boston.
Hailing from Vienna, Melanie joined GISB in 2015 and speaks German and English. She teaches grade 1/2, Math, Science and Ethics.
Fenja joins the GISB teaching team from Germany as the Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 1 - 12. She has two years of experience in a school for physically disabled children and one year in a school for children with learning, social and emotional needs.
Holger is from Germany and studied at the University of Bonn, University of Wales / College of Cardiff and Münster University. He holds a degree in English and Theology. Before joining GISB he was Assistant Head of School and Head of School at a Gymnasium outside Hannover. Holger has three sons and loves outdoor sports.
Andrea is from Germany, and lived in Connecticut for three years. In her former post in Hamburg, she was responsible for the science competition in grade 5/6, was a jury member of "Jugend forscht," and was Head of the Geography Department. She now teaches Science, Chemistry, and Geography in the Middle & Upper School.
