Welcome

deutsches_icon.gifWelcome to the German International School

The GISB is a young, dynamic school, preparing to celebrate its tenth anniversary in the summer of 2011. Our short history has seen continuous development, expansion and innovation in virtually all areas.  Ever increasing enrollment numbers and the addition of a new grade every year since the school's inception contribute as well to our successful and stimulating school program.

web_gallery_1.jpgThe most important constant factor in our program remains our dedication to the demands and the possibilities of our students, and the guided development of their best possible potential. To enable the students to steer, to reflect on, and to assume responsibility for their own development is the fundamental credo of our approach.

Essential to this approach is our ongoing investment in the institutional infrastructure of cooperative work, school program development, and a continuously evolving program of pedagogical training for teachers and staff.  Highly trained and motivated teachers in a clearly structured program are of the greatest importance to our mission. Our teachers' commitment to students, their expertise in cutting-edge teaching techniques and methods of classroom management, and their steady encouragement of students' ability to work independently in a supportive learning environment all contribute decisively to our students' success.

With the upcoming 2010/11 school year the GISB finds itself in a new phase of expansion. In September 2011 we will open our new Oberstufe (11th/12thgrade), for which we are building a new Student Center to suit older students' needs.  In Summer 2013 we shall graduate our first recipients of the German International Abitur and of the Massachusetts High School Diploma, thus achieving a major goal set at the school's inception: to provide a high-quality bilingual education crowned with locally and internationally recognized high school degrees.

We cordially invite you to explore our program further - on this website, at one of our open houses or other social events, or by getting in touch with us directly.
